How 3D street scans allow signage contractors to win more business

If you’re a signwriter or retail contractor, then you’ll know that time is money. The faster you can quote a job and get on the tools, the more business you’ll be able to win. LARKI is the perfect partner for shopfitters to get your site measurements,  without wasting time onsite in person, especially when it comes to the all-important street front facade, including signage.

You can use fast affordable 3D laser scanned surveys already in LARKI’s database right now, to save you the time and hassle of travelling and measuring in person. You don’t go in-person to measure-up anymore. Get the site measurements you need online at larki.au.

Using 3D Streetscape Point Clouds, you can see and measure the street front facade of your client’s shop – plus all the neighbouring shops on the strip – right from your desk.

Shop facades make or break retail fitouts

When it comes to retail fitouts, the front facade is the first, and sometimes only, impression a customer gets about a store before walking inside. So it’s vitally important to get the right visibility and profile to deliver a good customer experience and also stand out from the competition.

High street shopping strip landlords and their retail tenants rely on shopfitters, window merchandisers and signwriters to develop visually impactful shop fronts. But the pressure is on them to get it right, and within budget.

Getting accurate site data can be challenging at a busy local shopping strip!

The first step to winning the job is quoting.  And in today’s competitive contractor market, it’s all about putting the best quote forward.

As a contractor, one of your main concerns is making sure you are pricing the job correctly. If you quote too low, you run the risk of losing money on the job. If you quote too high, you may not get the job at all.

To get a good gauge on your costs, you need to know what you are dealing with. You need accurate information about the site’s size and fit out requirements to estimate labour, materials, overheads, and any other costs.

For the interior of the shop, there should already be a floor plan with dimensions available that you can rely on for your quote.

But what about the front facade? That won’t be on any floor plan! And you can’t take measurements off a Google Streetview.

If you have to go to the site to collect this information, firstly you have to take that valuable time out of your day in the car, and secondly, even once you get there, you will face a few challenges.

Standing outside on a busy high street shopping strip, you have to dodge busy shoppers, trolleys and parked cars as you try to get the measurements and photos needed.

It can be almost impossible to get an appropriate wide angle view without a bus or delivery truck getting in the way.

And even if you are good at snapping photographs, they are not geolocated or measurable. You don’t want to end up back in the office counting bricks off photos to estimate heights?!

Maybe there is a measurement that you need that is out of reach, even if you happened to bring a ladder.

Taking all the necessary measurements can be quite tricky, especially if there are detailed decorations, trees, powerlines or other complex features built into the facade.

The signwriter will need to know all these quirks.

And it’s actually really hard to get accurate and measurable information about a front facade just from a physical inspection.

Don’t risk losing the job! Getting the best spatial info for your quote doesn’t have to cost your time and patience!

Inaccuracies in the information you were rushed to collect on site can lead to big problems with your quotes. Rounding up and overestimating costs could lead to losing the job to your competition.

Or missing information and underestimating the quote could cost you your profit margin once you’ve landed the job.

There is a better way!

With LARKI, you can avoid the shopping strip crowds AND the risk of errors in your quote.  You can download a highly detailed 3D laser scan of the street-facing facade.  It’s fast, affordable, and accurate!

Put your best quote forward with LARKI, without even having to go on site!

By measuring existing 3D Streetscape Point Clouds on LARKI.au web app, you can avoid the shopping centre crowds!

You can use the measurable files of the street front facade of your client’s shop, and the adjoining shops as well, to build your quote and make it stand out from the competition. By sharing a link to the point cloud in our 3D Viewer web app, with your bookmarked views, measurements, coordinates and annotations, you can give your client a highly confident picture of the existing condition and demonstrate how thoroughly you have scoped the job.

It’s the perfect way to streamline your workflows and make sure you put the best quote forward to win the job and impress your clients!
